You can now nominate, donate to charities in need via Shopee Bayanihan

The spirit of bayanihan continues (especially now that people are more inclined to ask for help from celebrities and companies rather than the government)! Now that we’re on the second week of community quarantine due to COVID-19, more and more brands are opening donation drives through various platforms. The recent one that we’ve encountered is e-commerce platform Shopee, which launched Shopee Bayanihan – an initiative focused on providing support for medical front liners and Filipinos in need.

Through Shopee Bayanihan, we can now directly share financial aid to humanitarian organizations like Red Cross, Kaya Natin, and World Vision via the app. We can also nominate charities that may need assistance so Shopee can reach out to them and include them in the donation drive. In fact, Shopee has already donated 2,800 KFN4 respiratory masks to support the health workers in the Philippine Lung Center!

Current beneficiaries are:

  • Lung Center of the Philippines
  • Caritas Damayan
  • Philippine Red Cross
  • PGH Medical Foundation
  • PAGASA (People for Accountable Governance and Sustainable Action)
  • Kaya Natin
  • Save the Children
  • yFACTph
  • World Vision
  • For more details about each organization, you may visit this link.
  • To nominate charities in need, answer their Google Form here.

To help from home, we only need to follow these 5 simple steps:

Aside from donating via the app, local celebrities will also be performing via Shopee Live on March 31, dubbed as “Shopee Bayanihan Day” in order to raise funds for their cause.

Best part? Proceeds will go straight to the partner organizations and not into the pockets of the e-commerce site nor the celebrities. Time to give back and protect front liners who are also protecting us!

Stay safe and health, millennials! Let’s #HelpFromHome!
