What we know so far about ‘Black Mirror: Season 5’

BAfter a mind-boggling choose-your-own-adventure experience in Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, millennial-favorite sci-fi anthology Black Mirror will be officially back in Netflix with a fifth season this June! Its return is way shorter than what we’re used to but this is no longer a surprise, considering all the footage they took just to produce Bandersnatch‘s storyline.

This evening (May 15), Netflix released a short preview of what’s to come on June 5, 2019. We heard from our friends at Netflix Philippines that the fifth season will only contain three episodes that are still set to change how we see technology and the future that is upon us.

This season stars Miley Cyrus (we’re pretty sure you know her!), Anthony Mackie (remember Falcon from Avengers?), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (played Black Manta in Aquaman), Pom Klementieff (Mantis in Avengers), Topher Grace, Damson Idris, Andrew Scott, Nicole Beharie, Angourie Rice, Madison Davenport and Ludi Lin. All three stories are under the helm of Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones.

Black Mirror is an anthology series that taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia leading to an unforgettable – and sometimes unsettling – conclusion. Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in every palm – a plasma screen; a monitor; a smartphone – a Black Mirror reflecting our 21st Century existence back at us.

No titles have been released yet so all we can do now is to make assumptions – one about virtual reality, one about technology’s effects on your family, and maybe one about money? We’re not sure! What do you think?
