DID YOU KNOW: Dua Lipa to co-write, perform new single ‘Swan Song’ for ‘Alita: Battle Angel’

Every single millennial already knows who Dua Lipa is by now, after this global pop singing sensation dominated every stereo in town with New Rules, among other pop masterpieces. Before 2018 ends, she isn’t quite done making her presence felt so a new song awaits fans all over the world in 2019! Reports say that the double Grammy nominee will be co-writing and performing this new single called Swan Song for 20th Century Fox’s Alita: Battle Angel, an action-adventure movie from producers James Cameron, Jon Landau (Avatar) and director Robert Rodriguez (Sin City). 

I am intrigued at both Alita herself, and the amazing team of creators that came together to make this movie possible. I see a little of myself in her, in both her badass spirit and our shared haircut. Alita is all about empowerment and standing up for who you are, which are two things that resonate with me,” shares Dua Lipa. Justin Tranter, Kennedi Lykken, Mattias Larsson, Robin Fredriksson, and Tom Holkenborg will be co-writing the song with her.

From the moment we saw her video for ‘New Rules,’ we knew that Dua Lipa would be the perfect artist to do a song for Alita: Battle Angel,” commented Producer Jon Landau.  “She has the kick-ass strength, power and attitude in her performances that Alita embodies in the movie.  Jim, Robert and I are thrilled to have her onboard and are confident she will make ‘Swan Song’ the perfect inspiring and empowering anthem for our film.”

Alita: Battle Angel stars Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, Jackie Earle Haley and Keean Johnson. The screenplay was written by James Cameron and Laeta Kalogridis, based upon the manga series GUNNM by Yukito Kishiro. Here’s a preview of the trailer:
