IN PHOTOS: The season’s trends at the Shang’s ‘Holidaze’ Fashion Show

What to wear for the festive season? Shangri-La Plaza sent the latest trends we should have in our closets down the runway of Holidaze, the shopping mecca’s annual Holiday Fashion Show on November 11, 2017. The two show segments, presented recently at the Grand Atrium, put together the sartorial choices we need to be making as the Christmas season rolls in, and the festivities begin.

Marks & Spencer

Top fashion labels at the Shang – Rustan’s Department Store, Adora, Joe Fresh, Debenhams, Old Navy, Porsche Design, Paul & Shark, Repetto, British India, Stradivarius, Zara, Gap, Marks & Spencer, Arrow, K & Company, Daniel Hechter, Anne Klein, Van Laack, Brooks Brothers, Mico Boutique, Styled, and The Park showcased their best holiday pieces at the style spectacle.

Mico

Dress to impress for the holidays by giving a nod to diversity. Take cues from a myriad of cultural influences, and pair them up for contrast. Clashing patterns are pulled together by harmonious colors – think Grecian blue and white mixed with Chinese porcelain details or Indonesian ikat with Mexican prints.

The Park

Adora

Bold prints are definitely back. You can experiment with animal, geometric, abstract, cultural and floral prints and patterns. The key to pulling off these looks are complimentary colors. Pick pieces in silk, chiffon, satin, and chartreuse for chill chic looks that make a statement.

Paul & Shark

Old Navy

Denim never dies. Singer Bing Crosby’s fashion “invention”, the Canadian tux is enjoying its time in the spotlight with tone on tone matching and a silhouette that’s more relaxed than its skinny predecessor.

Stradivarius

Rustan’s

Look polished for those holiday parties with updated classics in a neutral color scheme, and minimalist boxy cuts that make these style staples very ‘now’. Or go ultra-luxe with pieces that are all about volume, rich fabrics, textures, weave and details – from lace, fringes to feathers.

Styled

Marks & Spencer

And finally, turn up the shine! It is Christmas after all. Put on pieces that focus on glitter, sequins, beads, and metallics, in light-reflecting materials from leather to latex. Get all high glam with looks that reference the maximalist fashion of the 80s, but styled with modern flair.
